My objective was to design something decorative, yet functional that hybridized existing objects to create new and meaningful interactions for a potential user. Through an extensive exploration of materials, processes, and affordances, my solution to this problem is a series entitled ICON.

ICON has three driving factors: reflection, illumination, and suspension. Iconography is used to epitomize the different approaches to style, as well as directly relating the icons to their function. I chose to use these styles based on a dissection of culture into three genres, or styles of decorating. Though each mirror embodies the essential elements of the assigned style (modern, rustic, and traditional) each mirror is minimalist in nature.
